What the drip includes
Common Causes of Fever in Bali
A fever is your body’s response to an infection, not an illness by itself. In Bali, travelers most often get a fever from:
- Viral infections such as colds and flu
- Bali belly and food poisoning
- Heat exhaustion after too much sun
- Dengue fever, which is spread by mosquitoes
- Other infections that need a doctor’s diagnosis
What to do while you have a fever
- Rest and drink plenty of fluids
- Use paracetamol for fever, and avoid ibuprofen or aspirin until dengue has been ruled out
- Keep cool with light clothing and a fan
- Note your temperature so you can tell our team or a doctor
Fever with a runny nose, sore throat and aches? Our Cold & Flu Drip adds medication for those symptoms. Fever with vomiting or diarrhea? See our Bali belly treatment.

When a fever needs a doctor or hospital
Dengue and typhoid are common in Indonesia and can start like an ordinary fever. Please see a doctor for a blood test if your fever lasts more than 2 days, or comes with a severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint or muscle pain, or a rash. Go to the nearest hospital emergency room straight away if you have bleeding gums or nose, severe stomach pain, constant vomiting, blood in your vomit or stool, difficulty breathing, confusion or fainting. Our team checks you before every drip and will tell you if you need further care.
